🌿 Tyelkoron Morhana
Race: High Elf
Class: Druid
Role: Realmstrider
Status: Active
Character Overview
Tyelkoron has discovered new layers to his perception, seeing not only what transpires around him but also the deeper threads of power within his companions—threads that speak to him louder than to those who hold them. The lingering curse of Gorrath the Malice-Scaled coils in his mind, both a wound and a tool. He has begun to bend it toward understanding, using its depths to further knowledge he never imagined attainable. Perhaps, in time, this curse will show him a way forward. Until then, his path lies with his people, and for now, that people is this band of striders.
Detailed Background
The Circle of Dragons
Tyelkoron Morhana was once among the proudest members of the Circle of Dragons—a secretive Druidic order devoted to channeling the natural forces embodied by dragonkind. The Circle was divided among followers of both benevolent and malevolent dragons, with each faction championing the traits of their chosen draconic patrons. Tyelkoron chose to align himself with a venerable and just Golden Dragon named Atarlax.
For decades, he honed his druidic powers under Atarlax's mentorship, communing with nature through a draconic lens. His devotion and skill earned him a respected place within the Circle. Alongside his fellow adherents of good-hearted dragons, he worked tirelessly to balance the circle's tenuous coexistence with the more self-serving and cruel draconic factions.
The Betrayal and Curse
Tyelkoron's downfall began in a single night of treachery. Gorrath the Malice-Scaled, a cunning and wicked Black Dragon, had grown resentful of the prestige and reverence that the Circle afforded Atarlax and his followers. In a vicious coup, Gorrath and his dark brood ambushed the Circle's gathering grounds, striking down many of Atarlax's followers. Those who survived were subjected to a cruel curse—one designed to warp the druidic Wild Shape into a monstrous mockery of true draconic power.
Tyelkoron found his natural shapeshifting powers corrupted. Where once he could assume a variety of beast forms to serve nature's needs, now his only beast form was that of a displacer beast—a twisted feline creature whose illusionary abilities and predatory instincts served as a constant reminder of Gorrath's contempt. Gorrath viewed these corrupted followers as pets—living trophies to flaunt his dominance.
Life Under the Curse
Shamed and tormented by the loss of his old powers, Tyelkoron struggled to adapt. The displacer beast form was agile and fierce, to be sure, but its shadowy, alien nature clashed with everything he valued in the natural order. Tending to forests, healing wounded creatures—these once second-nature acts felt dissonant while trapped in such a predatory shape. Further, the curse came with lingering whisper-like compulsions, as if Gorrath's draconic malevolence echoed within his mind.
Still, Atarlax's teachings endured in Tyelkoron's heart. Even stripped of his druidic breadth, he refused to abandon the mission of good. He resolved to face the new challenges head-on. Over time, Tyelkoron discovered subtle ways to use the displacer beast's stealth and illusions to protect the land—though it was always bittersweet.
Quest for Redemption
Driven by compassion and a sense of responsibility, Tyelkoron seeks to break Gorrath's curse and free other ex-followers of the Circle who were similarly afflicted—turned into griffon-like horrors, basilisk-like monstrosities, and other unnatural hybrid forms. Though he was not responsible for Gorrath's betrayal, he feels a measure of guilt for underestimating the malevolent faction. If only he had recognized the depth of Gorrath's hatred sooner, perhaps he could have acted. Now he devotes every ounce of his remaining druidic power and his new monstrous abilities toward restoring those he considers family.
